This Ecosystem project turns a robotic microscope into an Active Inference-driven intelligent agent for managing soil biology at scale. It develops AI systems that autonomously operate microscopy hardware, acquire data, and make decisions — treating the instrument as an inference agent in a biological environment.

Overview

The project develops Active Inference architectures for autonomous robotic microscopy — creating systems that observe, plan, and act in order to characterize biological samples with minimal human intervention. The application domain is soil biology, supporting FarmWorks-adjacent ecological research, with Swiss Soil signed on as a beta-testing partner.
