2025 was the Active Inference Institute's fifth full year: four Quarterly Roundtables, the 5th Applied Active Inference Symposium (November 12–14), the Theoretical Neurobiology Group joining the Institute, a new RxInfer.jl partnership, completion of the Project ~ Measurement system, and selection of the 2026 Board — a completed year in review, organized month by month. A Year in Review
2025 closed with the Institute's fifth Applied Active Inference Symposium and a completed governance cycle. This retrospective maps the year month by month: new groups hosted (Theoretical Neurobiology), a new partnership (RxInfer.jl Learning Group), four Quarterly Roundtables, the Project ~ Measurement system, and the selection of 2026 leadership. January
Institute Programs and Activities begin for the year. The Theoretical Neurobiology (TNB) Group is now hosted at the Institute.
February
A new partnership begins, collaborating on the RxInfer.jl Learning Group and elsewhere.
March
March 28 — 2025 Quarterly Roundtable #1.
June
June 27 — 2025 Quarterly Roundtable #2.
July
Summer break. The Institute completes the Project ~ Measurement system so that Projects stay in an active state.
September
September 26 — 2025 Quarterly Roundtable #3.
November
November 12–14 — 5th Applied Active Inference Symposium. Recruitment opens for the next year's Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board. Projects mostly finish up after the Symposium.
December
December 19 — 2025 Quarterly Roundtable #4. The Institute continues to review Strategy, Mission, Vision, Values, and Principles, along with Ecosystem Support, Philanthropy, Grants, and more. The Board of Directors for 2026 is selected, and applications open for the Scientific Advisory Board for 2026.
