Project Preparation is how you let the Active Inference Institute know what you are setting out to do. Submitting the Preparation form is the way to get your project listed on the public site and to receive relevant support — it is the "Prepare" half of the Institute's Prepare-and-Measure system, paired with the Measurement form you use later to report progress.
What the Preparation form is
The Preparation form is a short, always-open description of what you are preparing to do — a project, study, or line of work you want to begin. It is the "Prepare" half of the Institute's Prepare-and-Measure system: Preparation describes what someone is setting out to do, and the Measurement form later reports back when goals are reached. A preparation can be submitted by anyone, whether you simply want to let the Institute know what you are working on or want it formally supported.
Why submit a preparation
Submitting a preparation is how your project gets listed on the public site and becomes visible to the community, and it is how the Institute learns what you are working on so it can offer relevant support. It is also the natural first step before later reporting progress through the Measurement form, so that a project's life — from intention to outcome — is captured in one consistent way.
How to submit
Complete the short Preparation form and submit it — it takes only a few minutes. If you have questions about preparing a project or about being listed, contact the Institute or start from the Get Involved page; if your project may need funding, the Grants page is a useful next stop.
Preparation and the project lifecycle
Preparation is the first stage of a shared project lifecycle — preparation, active work, measurement, and reporting. Starting with a preparation means a project enters the Institute's public record from the outset, and the always-open form means you can register a new project at any time rather than waiting for a fixed intake window.
